THE TAKE
I think the officiating discussion on here this morning is a little overblown (Game 2 the officiating was egregious, last night the Knicks were fouling a ton)… with that said, I think it’s absolutely on the board that Wemby gets retroactively assessed a Flagrant 1 for the Brunson play, which would put him at 3 Flagrant Foul points, and one more would result in a suspension.

GRADING CRITERIA
TRUE IF
the NBA officially upgrades the Wembanyama foul on Brunson to a Flagrant 1 retroactively, resulting in Wembanyama accumulating 3 or more Flagrant Foul points in the 2026 playoffs.
FALSE IF
no retroactive upgrade is issued or the foul is not reclassified.

OUTCOME
CONFIRMED FALSEThe NBA reviewed Wembanyama's shove of Brunson in Game 3 and explicitly decided NOT to upgrade it to a flagrant foul — the league ruled it was a common foul, not a flagrant. Wembanyama remained at 2 flagrant foul points after the Game 3 review. He later reached 3 flagrant foul points via a separate Flagrant 1 elbow on Karl-Anthony Towns in Game 4, not through the Brunson play — so the specific prediction (retroactive Flagrant 1 on the Brunson play putting him at 3 points) did not come true.
